Um, and his point was...? Sorry, I don't get it :-)
Doug, I think that when young people recreate the world, as they so often do. They take apart the old stuff, the old art and put it back together in new ways. They put it back together in ways that people our ages may not get.
But the reason that I wanted to share this with you all is because of a common theme here at SML. I believe that the blues is not dead. It is live and kicking. Changing, being recreated as you read this.
And I hope some young kid who is totally into hip hop, learns about Robert Johnson and gets turned on to the pre-war blues. And goes on to make some good blues music.
The blues has survived rock and roll, hip hop, rap and Celine Dion. It is still the basis for many three chord tunes, and a hell of a lot of country tunes.
What's the blues equivalent of "Rock on!" ?
I would say, keep your mojo working. LOL.
I think it worked.
It took me a while to 'get it', though. I just hope that the essence of the blues survives.
