This may be of interest to you.
The Staple Singers later took issue with the Rolling Stones for their subsequent hit version called "The Last Time". Oddly enough, the Rolling Stones producer Andrew Loog Oldham later came out with an orchestral version of "The Last Time", which
was sampled by the Verve in the song
Bittersweet Symphony. Ultimately,
the Verve was sent to litigation for copyright infringement by the Rolling Stones/Oldham.
