Majid Bekkas – African Gnaoua Blues

ZZ Ward - Til The Casket Drops

Artist Direct 5/5
.... Ward burns down all expectations and boundaries and crafts a collection of alternative blues that's truly unlike anything out there—totally original and yet wholly otherworldly
AllMusic
.... There's not a single weak track on her 13-song debut, and several of them sound like hits. Despite its dark title, "Til the Casket Drops" is a profession of undying love that combines a hip-hop verse with a soaring pop chorus.

Muddy Waters Rolling Stones Live Video

Coment Left @ YouTube:

22 November 1981,during their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon. Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Buddy Guy's club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz. It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera.

Eric Bibb - I Hear Angels Singing

Here is a post from the past, but I like this song so much I just want to post it every Sunday!

On this early getting up morning, I think we need to have a sing along. I went to the trouble of transcribing this one. Because I know you are going to want to sing it too.

And yes I too hear angels singing.

I went down in the valley one day
I heard the angels singing

I heard a voice I saw no one
I heard angels singing

What you reckon that the angels said
I heard angels singing

Your sins is forgiven and your soul is free,
I heard angels singing

~

I went down in the valley one day
I heard angels singing to me

I seen an old devil walk down my way
I heard angels singing

What you reckon that the devil said
I heard angels singing

Said heaven's doors are closed, said go home don't pray
But I heard angels singing

I said get back Satan, get out of my way
I hear angels singing

And I don't want to hear another word you say
Oh, I hear the angels singing

I hear angels singing

~

Just when I thought my soul was lost
I heard angels singing

My dungeon was shook, my chains dropped off
Ohhh, I heard angels singing

People come a running say what's it all about
I heard angels singing

The Holy Ghost hit me I could not help but shot
I heard angels singing

Oh, Oh yeah

Ohhh in that morning
I heard angels singing

Well I went down in the valley one day
I heard angels singing to me

I seen an old devil walk down my way
I heard angels singing

I said get back Satan, get out of my way
I hear angels

I don't want to hear another word you say
Oh I hear'em singing

In that great getting up morning
I heard angels singing to me

In that great getting up morning
Oh You know I heard my angels

Hallelujah

Farnell Newton

I've been following various musicians on Twitter for a while now.  I try to review the musicians that follow me and listen to their music and pass the really good stuff on to the readers of this blog.  You know like some kind of virtuous cycle where the good stuff rises to the top.

So having said that, I want to highlight a musician that I have been listening to for a few weeks now and recommend that you give his music a listen also.

A reviewer at Amazon.com says it best;

Farnell Newton's debut album, is simply put, good music. A hip cool amalgamation of hip hop, jazz, funk and soul. With several features on here such as singer Toni Hill, and production by Dookie Green, this is a lively foot tapping, head nodding affair.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band - Blue On Black

Check out Kenny Wayne Shepherd on twitter @ https://twitter.com/KWShepherd .

Notes From YouTube:

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band - Blue On Black

Lyrics:
Night, falls, and I'm alone
Skin, yeah, chilled me to the bone
You, turned and you ran,
Oh yeah
Oh slipped, right from my hand

[Chorus:]
Hey
Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
A dead man's touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesn't change a thing
Don't bring you back
Blue on black
Oh yeah, blue on black

Blind, oh, now i see
Truth, lies, and in between
Wrong, cant be undone
Oh slipped, from the tip of
Your tongue

[Chorus:]
Hey
Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
A dead mans touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesn't change a thing
Doesn't bring you back, yeah
Blue on black
Oh, blue on black
Oh, yeah

[guitar solo]

[Chorus (2x):]
Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
Is a dead man's touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesn't change a thing
Don't bring you back
Blue on black
Oh yeah, blue on black

Hey
Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
Is a dead mans touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesn't change a thing
Doesn't bring you back
Blue on black
Oh, blue on black
Oh wha oh, blue on black
Oh, blue on black
