This is a wonderful cover of Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks" by the all lady band Zepperella. They do a marvelous job on this great blues rock song.

Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones Video

After re-reading my post on Keith Richards where I dropped the F bomb about how much I love The Rolling Stones, I thought OK, you could be overstating the case a bit.

You know I might be a fan boy or something, then I came across the video below.  And I wanted to be even more emphatic about how much I love these guys, and their music and what I think they have done to promote blues and other blues musicians. 

Again I could write thousands of words and still not describe how cool this video is. 

But I think you can see the love that Muddy Waters had for the Stones and you can also see that they loved Muddy too.

Notes from YouTube: On 22 November 1981, in the middle of their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon.

Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Buddy Guy's club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz also played their part.

It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera. Now, restored from the original footage and with sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain, this amazing blues night is being made available in an official release for the first time.

This is a movie that I really can not tell you how man times I have seen. Back in the early eighties me and my Navy buddies used to go see this at the mid-night movies.

For Led Zeppelin fanatics, this 1976 feature The Song Remains the Same is a treasure of searing live performances, particularly welcome in light of the sad scarcity of such visual material from the band's great decade. Despite the group's road weariness after a long tour, their final, three-night stand at Madison Square Garden in 1973 was full of the old power. Not a bad little cover of this classic rock song by one of the best all time blues rock bands. I enjoyed the original version of this song, and I also enjoyed the original version of the movie that this was remade for, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".

Jimi Hendrix was born on this day back in 1942. It goes without saying that he was one of the most influential guitarist of all time.

I am always amazed by the different ways that we all come to the music. Hendrix, who most people think of as a Rock musician, has always been a bluesman to me. Because I grew up in Louisiana and my older relatives listened to all the classic bluesmen non-stop, I did not get around to blues rock music until much later. Unlike some people who came to the blues the other way around, by lestening to Rock music.

I remember when I first heard Hendrix. I knew that he was playing blues music, but I did not totally get it. My older cousin and his friends loved him, so I figured that he must be cool. And as I listened to him more and more I realized just how special he was.
