Joe Bonamassa - Live From The Royal Albert Hall (Part 1/2)

Joe is the man.  And this is a wonderful video.  It is another one of those that I would watch all day if I could.

And as always if you love the music, then support the music. Joe Bonamassa Live from The Royal Albert Hall

Happy Belated Birthday Robert Cray

I missed Robert Cray's birthday, which was on the first of the month (born August 1, 1953).  I hope he had a happy one, and that there are many happy returns of the day.

I like this song here that he did with Joe Bonamassa, it is good stuff. Love the vocals and of course these guys are guitar Gods!

It's the Birthday of Joe Bonamassa

Joe Bonamassa was also born on May 8, 1977. Being born on the same day as Robert Johnson probably means that the boy was born under a good sign.

Can you believe that someone born in the seventies can play the kind of music that this young man can. The coolest part about him is that he shows that long after guys like me are sitting on the front poarch in heaven, young cats like him will be down here working their mojo.

And to get a taste of what the man is like today, check this video out >>> Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe

Spotlighted Blues Album: Don't Explain

I've been listening to Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart's latest album every chance that I can. They are both very talented musicians that fit together so well. Beth's sultry and powerful voice fits so well with Joe's blistering guitar solos. They fit together like hand and glove, and this album makes me hope that they make another album together.

Joe Bonamassa: Black Rock

Black Rock is Joe's sixth album, it was recorded at and named for Black Rock Studios in Santorini, Greece. A fusion of blues, bouzouki and clarino - I had my doubts on first listen my ear didn't quite tune. However by the third time of listening to the album I found myself grinning from ear to ear and definitely chilled. An album I'll listen to repeatedly 4* out of 5 for me. Mr Bonamassa is getting better and better - he is in a good place!

A seller is his duet with B.B. King on the Willie Nelson 'Night Life'.

I also like Leonard Cohen's poetic 'Bird On A Wire'

Buy the album - see him on tour - I will!

I look forward to seeing his collaboration with Jason Bonham, Glenn Hughes and Derek Sherinian in forming a supergroup called Black Country.

Joe Bonamassa - Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD - Further on up the Road (Featuring Eric Clapton) @YouTube

DVD Description

Award-winning blues rock star, guitar hero and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa s new release, Joe Bonamassa Live From The Royal Albert Hall, a 2-DVD live set, just made it s debut at #6 on Billboard Magazine s Top Music DVD Chart and #10 on the Top Blues Album Chart. The film, released on October 6 by Bonamassa s record company J&R Adventures, captures the intensity and excitement of the May 2009 show that marked Bonamassa s headlining debut at arguably the most prestigious concert venue in the world. May 4, 2009 was a day 20 years in the making, says Bonamassa. I have never been so honored in my life. It was truly larger than the sum of its parts.

At the Hall, Bonamassa had the added honor of being joined onstage by the legendary Eric Clapton. The Guitar Buzz calls it, A must-have DVD for any Joe Bonamassa fan and frankly, any person who plays the guitar and appreciates instrumental mastery at work. Joe Bonamassa is to the guitar what Liberace was to the piano. He s a 6-string maestro. And Brian D. Holland writes in Guitar International, It s not only a momentous occasion for Joe Bonamassa, it s one for bluesrock in general.

This double DVD set, which features a twelve-camera high definition, surround sound shoot produced by Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, Aerosmith) and an exclusive interview and behind-the-scenes footage with Bonamassa, presents that magical night in full for posterity, and for all the fans that couldn t be among the roughly 5,000 concertgoers filling the seats.

Bonamassa performs with a combination of searing excellence and showmanship that underlined exactly why he has risen to the top of the most punishing circuit in popular music today.

According to a reviewer at Amazon.com;

This is one jaw-dropper of a DVD! Joe is on fire! His shows his versatility in his amazing ability, what with Yes covers, SRV-style blues covers, Eric Sardinas-style electric Dobro...great playing and GREAT TONE! His guitar tone itself is jaw-dropping. His bassist and drummer are as tight as wallpaper on a wall. And the overall sound quality is TOP NOTCH. Best concert DVD of the year. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Joe Bonamassa at Mascot Records

My online friend David made a great recommendation. He provided a link to Joe Banomassa's free mp3 file of "Merry Christmas Baby" over at Mascot Records.

Mascot Records has quite a few very good free mp3s up at their site so please check them out. You can get to the files by clicking on the audio link. Make sure you click on each page, there are five songs by Joe Bonamassa all together. And many more by other musicians.

David's blog Music Musings is a great place to read about music in general and to find some great free mp3s. He writes a feature called "Free Download Fridays" where he locates and links to some great free music. Please check him out for some wonderful music!
