Bluesman AI Generated Stickers

Lately I've been spending way too much time generating images using various AI image generating software.  It is crazy the things you can do.  I tried to generate some of my favorite Bluesmen (and women too), sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not.

Howlin' Wolf - How many more years

He explained the origin of the name Howlin' Wolf thus: "I got that from my grandfather [John Jones]." His Grandfather would often tell him stories about the wolves in that part of the country and warn him that if he misbehaved, the howling wolves would "get him".

I always love to hear musicians talk about how they make their music. Expecially when it is musicians who have a history of making really good music like the Rolling Stones. I think this clip is very cool, and the best part is when Kieth Richards explains the time that he was at a party at Muddy Water's house and woke up at Howlin' Wolf's house. Try and get your mind around that for a few seconds.

This is an old one but it is a good one. A wonderful documentary that has everybody that is anybody in the blues in it. Of course it has Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Memphis Slim, The Rolling Stones, Willie Dixon, Son House and many others.

The four-disc set is titled Smokestack Lightning: Complete Chess Masters 1931-1960.

Wang Dang Doodle

"Wang Dang Doodle" was written by Willie Dixon for Howlin' Wolf at Chess Records in Chicago. Willie Dixon says in his autobiography that of all the songs he wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Wang Dang Doodle" is the one he hated the most. However everyone seems to know it and has been heavily covered.

Howlin' Wolf on Shindig

There are many important moments in the history of music, I am sure. And here is a clip of what I consider to be a very important moment.

It is the apperance of Howlin' Wolf on the show Shindig. The story goes, that Mr. Wolf was allowed to perform at the bequest of the Rock band The Rolling Stones.

Wikipedia says of the incident;

1965 he appeared on the television show Shindig at the insistence of The Rolling Stones, who were scheduled to appear on the same program and who had covered "Little Red Rooster" on an early album.

Note the subtle sexuality of this clip. It is one of those times where I am transported back to when I was a boy and I am seeing something that I have seen many times, and finally understanding it. Note how Wolf dances, note how the camera zooms on the bottoms of the girls sitting on the bar stools.

I apologize for the poor quailty of this clip, but even with it's flaws it is excellent. Becuase it captures a very important moment in blues history.

I am a believer that Hip Hop is a direct decendant of Blues music. I firmly believe that if the Bluesmen of days gone by were alive they would be rappers and that if the rappers of today lived in the 40's or 50's they would have been Bluesmen.

One of the common themes of both kinds of music is money. This mashup shows how Blues and Hip Hop intersect.

As Jay Smooth of Ill Doctrine.com points out; "Probably makes more sense if you've already watched the 50 video."
