A Bluesmen you probably don't know: Lonnie Pitchford

Lonnie Pitchford, born on October 8, 1955 was a blues musician and instrument maker from Lexington, Mississippi. He passed away on November 8, 1995.

The video below shows him building a one string diddly bo. Notice how he uses a snuff(a type of smokeless tobacco) can for a resonator.

Okay, you finally got me, Fitz. I have never heard of this fellow. I admit it. He's not even a little familiar to me. I may have to go back to blues school.

I know the feeling, I have been writing about the blues since 2005, I own hundreds of blues albums, CDs and DVDs.

I have gone to over a hundred blues concerts, I was born an raised in Louisiana (steeped in the blues) where I saw many famous blues musicians, and I still find blues musicians that I do not know.

That is part of why I love doing this. The blues is dead (not), long live the blues.
