In IT '74, the film maker(Tony Palmer) does a great job in capturing a young Rory with this film. It's a great little chunk of history that depicts a special time in music history, a vital, energetic and creative time.

Rory Gallagher was part of my youth, there is a tribute to Rory Gallagher by Julian Sas (Dutch)

Rory Gallagher (1948-1995) is a legendary Irish blues/rock guitarist, born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, and raised in County Cork. He is regularly credited as one of the most influential Irish rock and blues musicians of all time.
Before finding solo fame he was a member of blues-rock band Taste

Rory died of complications following a liver transplant in 1995 and his life and music was celebrated by the citizens of Cork, as the funeral cortege moved through the streets. He is buried in St. Oliver’s Cemetery just outside the city

The Old Grey Whistle Test was shown on the BBC from 1971 to the late 1980's. I remember Whispering Bob Harris and luscious Anne Nightingale. This had cult status - an attempt at serious critique.



Dr Feelgood is slang for heroin or doctors who over prescribe drugs (originally the moniker of Piano Red). They are still going strong and rock - definitely R&B with a very bluesy feel. They were famous for their high octane live performances. Unfortunately I never got to see them so I have to enjoy my pleasures vicariously like this.



I spent too many air-guitar moments imitating this guy.

It's the Birthday of Rory Gallagher

Rory Gallagher was born on 2 March 1948, and he passed away on 14 June 1995. He was an Irish blues/rock guitarist, born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, part of the Province of Ulster.

And even though he had a shot life, and he suffered from illness, the guitarist, singer, and songwriter got a lot done in the world of blues music. His death was due to complications from a liver transplant surgery on June 14, 1995, at age 47.
