I Feel Like Going to Church - Blind Willie Johnson Trouble Soon be Over

This video is a re-enactment, but I really like it. I hope you enjoy it too, I think it is a great blues song for a Sunday morning.

Man, you just keep knocking me out with the stuff you find. Not only a great musical piece, but the "production value" for 1929 is simply amazing. And kids think music videos are something new...

Thanks,

Jol

Jol,

I'm sorry but maybe it is not clear that this clip is a modern day creation. I wish there was video from the 1920s of the bluesmen of that time. At that point in the blues audio recordings were just begining to be made, let alone video.

I want to thank you for your comment and I hope you come back and visit soon.

Fitzgerald,

Sorry, my lame attempt at humor. Of course it's not archival. I too wish that there were better recordings (and film) from those early days. I've been playing (and studying) blues for most of my life, but there is always more to learn and appreciate. Your blog is one of my favorite stops.

Jol,

Thanks so much for being a reader, and thanks for taking the time to comment. You are right as I re-read your original comment there was sarcasim there. I just failed to see it. LOL.

I just wanted to be clear, because that clip got me all exicited when I first saw it. LOL. It is that when you really want something to be true, like that clip, you might not pay attention to the fact that it is an obvious re-enactment. And the way stuff flys around the internet, I just like to give my readers clear ideas about the stuff I present.

Some kids, like my twenty something daughter have never heard of these guys and she thinks the media that exist today has been around forever. Imagine my surprise when I realized that she did not understand what an 8 track was. LOL. And one of my nephews was blown away when he saw me digitize an LP, and I had to explain to him that much of the music I like is not in the iTune store.

I plan on posting something with a little more humor soon, I hope you like it.

Warm regards,
Fitzgerald
