R&B Oldies

Rock and roll pioneer - many of his hits were successes despite being banned.

If you're looking for youth, you're looking for longevity, just take a dose of rock 'n' roll—it keeps you going. Just like the caffeine in your coffee, rock 'n' roll is good for the soul, for the well being, for the psyche, for your everything. I love it. I can't even picture being without rock 'n'roll.

Back in the 80s, Hank Ballard and the Midnighters played Toronto at the Hoseshoe Tavern. He brought the full band, and everybody had coordinated outfits and the place was packed and it was hot and sweaty. And those guys rocked that joint! It was a fantastic show.

The first time I saw a band like that was BB King - events like that stick in your memory.

Music is no different than literature. Some of the greatest works ever were originally banned, and for the silliest reasons. How many of you know that Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was banned because the animals were portrayed as being on the same level as humans? Or The Grapes of Wrath, because it made the residents of the region, that was the setting for the book, look bad. Lot's of music has been banned over the years. If anything, banning appears to make things more popular.

... good comment. I guess literature and music should extend the creative boundaries as well.
