John Fahey lived from 1939 to 2001. Not only was he an excellent and inventive guitar player, he was also the fellow who tracked down and "rediscoverd" blues great Bukka White by sending a postcard to Aberdeen Mississippi.
When I first heard John Fahey, I recall thinking, what the hell was that? Composer, eccentric, American primative?. He never seemed to fit. Maybe he doesn't even fit on a blues blog, I don't know. I find his music strangely compelling but I never feel at ease with it. Here are some examples.
