Tye Tribbett Gospel - What Can I Do

Lately I've been checking out more of the Grammy nominated Gospel acts out there.  According to Wiki;

Tyrone "Tye" Tribbett (born January 26, 1976) is an American gospel music singer, songwriter, keyboardist, choir director and founder of the Grammy-nominated and Stellar-Award winning gospel group Tye Tribbett & G.A. (short for 'Greater Anointing.')
I really enjoy the energy that this song has.

Gospel Music From a Video Game: Bioshock Infinite

I've been playing a lot of video games as of late. I mean you have to do something to pass that time, right?  Well the game that I have been playing lately has a lot of wonderful music in it.  The game is called Bioshock: Infinite, and if you like video games you will love this one.  And of course you love music, or you would not be reading this blog.

Here is a wonderful old gospel song that I love, and that fits this game so well. This is Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper the voice actors for the main characters of the game.  They are performing the original version of "Will The Circle be Unbroken".  It is just wonderful.

Here is a slower version.

Notes from YouTube:

Courtnee Draper - Will The Circle Be Unbroken (Lyrics)
Bioshock Infinite

CHORUS
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?

1.)
There are loved ones in the glory
Whose dear forms you often miss.
When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss?

CHORUS

2.)
In the joyous days of childhood
Oft they told of wondrous love
Pointed to the dying Saviour;
Now they dwell with Him above.

CHORUS

3.)
You remember songs of heaven
Which you sang with childish voice.
Do you love the hymns they taught you,
Or are songs of earth your choice?

CHORUS

4.)
You can picture happy gath'rings
Round the fireside long ago,
And you think of tearful partings
When they left you here below.

CHORUS

5.)
One by one their seats were emptied.
One by one they went away.
Now the family is parted.
Will it be complete one day?

CHORUS

What a Friend we Have in Jesus by Ella Fitzgerald

Notes from YouTube:

"O, what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer." Indeed the truth. How great can our peace be if we make prayer our first line of action instead of a route we follow "when all else fails."

The words to this hymn were written by Joseph M. Scriven for his mom in 1855 who were across the ocean from him at the time. In 1868, Charles C. Converse composed the music that accompanied it.

Ella Fitzgerald's rendition of this timeless hymn is one of my personal favourites, mainly for her "smooth as velvet' voice.

Go Down Moses by Louis Armstrong

Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go.

Now when Israel was in Egypt land
(Let my people go)
Oppressed so hard they could not stand
(Let my people go)

So the Lord said:
Go down, Moses
way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go.

So Moses went to Egypt land
(Let my people go)
He made old Pharaoh understand
(Let my people go)

Yes the Lord said:
Go down, Moses
way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go.

Thus spoke the Lord, bold Moses said,
(Let my people go)
If not I'll smite your firstborn dead
(Let my people go)

'Cause the Lord said:
Go down Moses
Way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go

Tell old Pharaoh to let my people go
