Sometimes worth going back a while and listening to some sounds you might have forgotton or just not listened to for a while. He received the W.C. Handy Award in 1985, 1987, and 2001. I wonder how his 14 kids are doing.
The band Phish performed Son's song "Funky Bitch" throughout their career and brought him on stage on multiple occasions, turning a whole new generation on to his music.

Back in the 80s, he used to come up to Toronto and play upstairs at the Brunswick House. At that time, Son Seals had what had to have been the hottest band around.
Must have been excellent to hear him!
