I love this song, "Going Down Slow." It is so sad. My favorite line, is "Would someone please call my mother, and tell her about the shap that I am in." I think that sums it up.
My favorite version is performed by BB King and Bobby Blue Bland, they add some very cool ad libs.
I was going to do a post about Lightnin Hopkins, but when I came across the video with Lightnin doing Goin down slow, I remembered other versions. I used to have a version on vinyl by St. Louis Jimmy Oden among others.
Bobby Blue Bland is a name I haven't heard in a while. I wonder if he still performs?
I checked Bobby Blue Bland's official website (http://www.bobbybluebland.com/) where it states that he still tours, he is in his late 70s and like BB King may still by performing.
