You Are My Sunshine

Wikipedia
"You Are My Sunshine" is a popular song first recorded in 1939. It has been declared one of the state songs of Louisiana as a result of its association with former state governor and country music singer Jimmie Davis
The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

Kent Duchaine - Leadbessie

Wikipedia

In 1979 Kent met up with his beloved and ever faithful Leadbessie. She’s a beat up 1934 National Steel Guitar that wows and astounds audiences when the equally beat up case she travels in is opened and her extra heavy strings are furiously played. Kent discovered and looked up a legendary blues man with the name of Johnny Shines in 1989.

Freddie King "Sweet Home Chicago" Video

This video is delightful to me for several reasons.

First the person who uploaded it, recorded it off of his telivision set. Which in my mind means he really liked it, and possible had no other way to record it.

And secondly, he did a reall good job. Which indicates that he, like me is a Freddie King fan. :)

Hiss Golden Messenger - Poor Moon

Pitchfork
It works: Poor Moon is a fantastic, on-repeat record that recalls the aesthetic risks and rewards of the best stuff produced by Laurel Canyon's singer-songwriters and, decades later, the stylistically daring musicians associated with New Weird America.

It Hurts Me Too - Elmore James version

From a much earlier Tampa Red song - see Wikipedia - this is one of the most interpreted Blues songs - with the Elmore James version being most familiar. These are just 3 of these - but lots more out there.

You say you hurting, you almost lost your mind
The man you love, he hurts you all the time
When things go wrong, go wrong with you
It hurts me too

Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones Video

After re-reading my post on Keith Richards where I dropped the F bomb about how much I love The Rolling Stones, I thought OK, you could be overstating the case a bit.

You know I might be a fan boy or something, then I came across the video below.  And I wanted to be even more emphatic about how much I love these guys, and their music and what I think they have done to promote blues and other blues musicians.

Again I could write thousands of words and still not describe how cool this video is.

But I think you can see the love that Muddy Waters had for the Stones and you can also see that they loved Muddy too.

Notes from YouTube: On 22 November 1981, in the middle of their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon.

Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Buddy Guy's club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz also played their part.

It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera. Now, restored from the original footage and with sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain, this amazing blues night is being made available in an official release for the first time.

Keith Richards - Life (Documentary Movie) Video

I don't want to gush, but I fucking love the music of the Rolling Stones, and Keith Richards in my opinion has a special place in heaven reserved for blues guitarist.

I would say more, but it is probably better if you just watch the videos and maybe check out the book.

It is the Birthday of B.B. King

Today is the birthday of B.B. King. He was born Riley B. King on September 16 in 1925. That makes him 87 years old. He is one of the senior bluesmen alive today.

And if you are wondering, yes sir Mr. King has still got it.

He still thrills me. I hope and pray that he has a wonderful day.

I could go on and on about him, becuase I truly do love him, his music and have seen him live many times. So I'm going to keep this one short, by saying "Happy Birthday Mr. King."

Led Zeppelin Celebration Day Film Trailer

Led Zeppelin Announced their ‘Celebration Day’ Concert Film Details and posted the trailer on their official YouTube Channel.

So it looks like the big surprise countdown was leading up to this. I personally can't wait to get my hands on the DVD.

The British rock and roll band will release its 2007 "Celebration Day" reunion as a concert film on Oct. 13. They will also put out the film on multiple video and audio formats on Nov. 19.

Original band members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were joined onstage by Jason Bonham, son of the late drummer John Bonham, for the tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

"Stairway to Heaven (a fan favorite)," ''Kashmir" and "Dazed and Confused" and another 16 songs or so will be in the two-hour concert film.

The film will be shown in 1,500 theaters around the world. Tickets are available at the band's website, http://www.ledzeppelin.com/ .

Bob Dylan said...

In the latest Rolling Stone Magazine interview Bob Dylan said...

These are the same people that tried to pin the name Judas on me. Judas, the most hated name in human history! If you think you've been called a bad name, try to work your way out from under that. Yeah, and for what? For playing an electric guitar? As if that is in some kind of way equitable to betraying our Lord and delivering him up to be crucified.
All those evil motherfuckers can rot in hell.

I had the pleasure of seeing Alvin Youngblood Hart last night at the Victoria, Menai Bridge, Anglesey.

Alvin was full of polished anecdotes, a profound knowledge of the Blues and a marvellous pedigree which was demonstrated by his consummate musical skills.
